And in the process creates a special atmosphere that lends this traditional center of commerce new life.
Great change of pace, simple as that
You should schedule enough time for your shopping trip in Tulln. Hauptplatz is the main square and the “living room” of the locals. It is also a perfect place to stroll and shop, enjoy a glass of Veltliner wine in a street café or sample a piece of Schiele torte in one of the venerable confectionery and fine pastry shops. The Rosenarcade is a downtown shopping mall featuring modern variety. But there is also much to explore on the other streets in the center of the city – especially traditional handicrafts and other businesses with local specialties. In the process you happen upon the cultural treasures of Danube City, from the historical Abbey of the Friars Minor to a Renaissance building with Venetian crenellations.
Tulln open-air markets
Food markets, farmer’s markets, annual fairs and much, much more – when the stallholders start setting up on Hauptplatz, this main square becomes a vibrant and lively market zone. You can look forward to tasty delicacies and superb vintages to please the palate and bargains to please your budget.
All year long, Hauptplatz is transformed every Friday into the culinary Naschmarkt, where regional farmers offer their fresh products. Every first Friday of the month during the warm season, arts and crafts are added to the mix. On Saturdays the weekly farmer’s market is staged in the Holzschuh Passage.
