Location and how to get there
Tulln can be reached quickly from many major cities. This accessibility is guaranteed by the town’s direct connection to the Austrian autobahns and to the international rail system, by the landing stage for international Danube ships on the Donaulände promenade and by the town’s location directly on the International Danube Bike Path. And this lovely city on the Danube is just a 45-minute drive from the Vienna International Airport.
Coming by car
Coming from Vienna:
- Via the A22 autobahn along the Danube in the direction of Tulln

Coming from Krems: Via the S5 express highway from Krems
Coming from the north: Via the B 19 or the S5 express highway from Krems
From western Austria: Via the A1 Westautobahn, turn off onto S5 at the St. Pölten junction
Coming from the south: Via the A21 outer ring autobahn, Altlengbach exit

Trains from Vienna, Krems or St. Pölten stop at the two train stations in Tulln (Hauptbahnhof, Tulln Stadt).

Tulln is served by a number of public bus lines (Postbus, Bahnbus, Regionalbus, Wieselbus). Within town, a transport system consisting of circular routes takes you from point A to point B.

The parking system in Tulln
Finding a parking space right away and fully enjoying your day of shopping is no problem in Tulln thanks to the ample parking facilities in and around the center of town.
Tulln has a modern parking system that combines various types of parking. Large parking lots, street parking and two parking garages near the center of town on Albrechtsgasse and Frauentorgasse all complement each other. A large underground parking garage directly under the main square (Hauptplatz) ensures a fun day of shopping in downtown Tulln. A third above-ground parking garage is located in the Park & Ride Center next to the main train station (Hauptbahnhof). The historical center of town has more than 1,800 parking spaces.
15 minutes of free parking
Since July 1, 2014, locals and visitors have been able to park free for 15 minutes (instead of the previous 10 minutes) in short-term parking zones subject to charges.
IMPORTANT: After parking your car, you must indicate your exact arrival time by filling out a special 15-minute display ticket (“Parkschein”)!

You are not permitted to use these free 15-minute display tickets (“Parkscheine”) in no-parking zones (Hauptplatz, Rudolfstrasse, Wiener Strasse).
Rates for short-term parking zones
The following rates apply to the short-term parking zones in downtown Tulln that are subject to charges:
- 30 minutes € 0,50
- 60 minutes € 1,-
- 90 minutes € 1,50
Hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
Methods of payment: Coins, Quick function on Austrian ATM card, pay and display ticket (“Parkschein”) that you fill out (available at all tobacco shops in Tulln and from the citizen service office at the city hall (Bürgerservice in Rathaus).
Parking guidance system – The easy way to find a parking space
On entering town, visitors are shown parking options by a parking guidance system and guided by signs through town to the various parking facilities.

Rates: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.: park free for 1 hour, each additional hour is € 1.00
Night rate: 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. parking at a flat-rate of € 1.00
Methods of payment: Bank notes, coins, ATM card, all credit cards, prepaid parking cards (available at Tulln tobacco shops and at the citizen service office at city hall (Bürgerservice in Rathaus)
